To begin with, I have done multiple readings in all of my classes this semester. For the spring 2014 semester, I am enrolled in College 1, Anthropology 2, Sociology 41 and English 1A. All of this class requires excessive reading skills. Since entering college, my readings have changed drastically because I learned some valuable reading skills in classes like College 1 and English 1A. I learn how to ask questions on the readings, do annotation on the book, summarize the points and more. My reading comprehension and comfort has improved over the semester because I am assign multiple readings by my college professor. In English 1A class, I have been asked to read essays written by famous figures like Plato, David Thoreau, Martin Luther King and many more. For Sociology, most readings I read is an article that explains the issue of Asian American. In my opinion, all this reading have help me develop critically in my reading skills. Compared to when I first started the semester, I do some things differently when reading. One thing I do different is that now I annotate my work and make a lot of underlines and highlights of certain passage that I think is relevant to the piece. In how I read and think about before, during and afte I read something, I have noticed a few differences. One difference is that now I like to analyze what I read even more. I also like to ask questions before I read something. One example would be in college 1, I often ask questions about Southland and what is going to happen on the next chapter. Then I like to compare the questions to the readings when I actually read the chapter. I think if the question I ask is accurate to the readings or did I guess wrong. After the reading, I often interpret and analyze what I read like with Southland. At the end of every chapter, I interpret what I have just read and this helps me make my RRJ journals.
