Attributes of Effective Leadership

To begin with, the person i choose to be as an affective leader would be my manager at Yik Yak. Particularly she is an incredible person, well accomplish and very rich in experience. But i can safely say what excel her as a leader is none other than her mastery in human resource and symbolic, as described by the Frame Analysis. She is able to motivate the people she leads by giving them a sense of ownership and satisfaction in working for the company. Because of her outgoing nature and humbleness to always learn, i can safely say that all the other interns genuinely want to succeed because we do not want to let her down. More on this, i feel like her charisma and vision to succeed is greatly contagious and fits into the symbolic mold. When the timing is right, she likes to be very encouraging while also showing a great sense of vision to how the team should be running, that is why she is so effective as a leader and is able to occupy this position at such a young age. In terms of the assigned reading and the leader i choose, i genuinely think that leaders in different sectors need to adopt certain frame of preferences in their careers. For example, someone working at an Investment Banking position has to be more inclined to the structural frame and being very tight with all schedule. Simply put this is because the career they are in demands them to do this. As for me, working at a social media startup, its more work-oriented than time-oriented. Thus, having develop the skill of being human resource and symbolic definitely adds to the harmonization of the team. Where as in a more money driven and time sensitive work like consulting and finance too, being political and having certain trait within that frame to lead is crucial to the whole process.
